UTMB Health opened a new 150,000 square foot hospital in League City Texas, complete with inpatient and emergency care. The first full-service hospital in League City, it offers advanced health care to patients from throughout the region, in a soothing, healing environment designed for patients, families and staff. Each private, state-of-the-art patient room supports a team-based, patient- and family-centered approach to care.
The marina-themed imagery for this south Texas mainland hospital was very different than the island theme we used for the JSH Galveston project.
We worked closely with artists in the surrounding communities to feature both photographic and painterly scenes that depict the local life and culture of this South Texas environment. Immediately upon entering the hospital we installed a custom branded feature piece of art which showcases an image of the marina with the name of every community served superimposed onto the image. Our designers artfully blended originals, prints and dimensional works to enhance the architecture and create a soothing environment.
Custom patient communication boards were developed for each room, complete with double sided (English/Spanish) printed inserts, so that each patient can receive the most personal patient experience.
UTMB League City Bridge Connector
A journey from the new parking garage across the connector bridge can be sunny and filled with glare in this south Texas environment. Our first task was to develop a graphic printed film which not only guides each visitor but also cuts down on the glare as well. As you approach the descending stairwell our large scale cast resin wall sculpture comes into view. The size and palette of each custom poured ring are designed to bring harmony and balance to the space.
Our wayfinding strategy for each level of the garage celebrates cultural icons specific to this region. Each sign is fabricated using custom millwork to match existing finishes along with a dimensional numeral denoting each level. This durable signage product is also available in an exterior grade suitable for any outdoor application.
