I was born and raised in Chicagoland with a strong sense of style to Hal and Flory Marion (the H in H. Marion), two obvious Johnny Cash fans…Our family business became a design staple here with dad’s strong focus on quality, service, and creativity. The thread of design was always present with our services ranging from wallcovering design, manufacturing, distribution, installation, retail, textiles, interior design, custom framing, and art consulting. Today we service residential, corporate, and healthcare clients across the country focusing on one basic tenant; “when you walk into a space, there’s an emotional connection to the way it looks and feels.”

Pam Rosenberg, our Director of Design, joined the team full time in 2007. A graduate of SAIC, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, with an expertise in Fine Arts and Interior Architecture. Pam’s direction has supercharged our range of deliverables always challenging our design and production staff to keep pace with her vision.

We helped to pioneer healthcare design in the mid 80’s, and at that time it was called “deinstitutionalizing the hospital experience.” Today we practice Evidence Based and Biophilic Design to create a patient and family centered healing environment. Our work goes beyond healing imagery; our graphics department creates original murals, history and donor walls, outdoor sculpture, mobiles even patient communication boards. The local artist programs we curate help to create a welcoming environment that patients and staff feel comfortable in.

We are client driven and look forward to collaborating with you.

Here are a couple of FAQ’s that come up during the design process:

How are you able to create an art program that’s fresh and will look relevant for years to come?

How are you able to reinforce our brand through an art program?

Our designers come from various backgrounds so cross pollination and collaboration helps to keep our team sharp and ideas fresh. Understanding color theory, pop culture trends, proven design principles from fashion to film, music, literature, and art build a strong base from which to design from. Since we’re never happy repeating a design package, each new project draws from a fresh palette, building on the past but reflecting what’s current and in vogue.

Our designers understand that a brand is not a “product” but rather a feeling. For example, Coca Cola is not a refreshing drink, “it’s The Real Thing…” We know that art has an emotional component and an ability to impact the way you react and interact with a space. That connection is the first step in the process of creating a meaningful art program which can both change the course of a company and those who utilize the space.

“What started as a preliminary budget developed into a multi-phase art program for a large downtown commercial property. They provided an expertise in artwork as well as installation, and worked diligently with us to meet the Owner’s needs and ultimately deliver a great project.”

Chris Nikkel, Eckenhoff Saunders Architects

“The project was completed on time and within budget. The artwork is the perfect complement to our modern building. We are extremely satisfied with the end result.”

Tracy Hollamon, American Society of Anesthesiologists

“I highly recommend H. Marion for all your art needs. I appreciate their attention to detail and their use of themed art has had a very positive effect on both patients & staff.”
